One village at the forefront of access for 130 years

For everyone interested who cares about campaigns to secure and extend access to our open spaces, rural and urban, land and water, this booklet outlines the history of access campaigning from the Enclosures through to Outdoors for All . It approaches all this through the lens of Hayfield in the High Peak, a beautiful village that has been at the forefront of campaigning for 130 years.

Since 1897, it has been the scene of crucial and iconic events in the history of the access movement, including the still very relevant 1932 Mass Trespass –  and it is still playing a major role in current campaigning to call on the Labour Government to legislate during this parliament to secure current access and significantly extend it further.

All proceeds from downloading a copy of the booklet go entirely to Hayfield Kinder Trespass Group to enable its year-long activities and its organisation of the annual ‘Outdoors for All’ festivals every April, to mark the anniversary of the 1932 Trespass and bring together all campaigners for further extension of responsible access to appropriate land and waterscapes.
